Introduction

Accelero takes the protection of user data extremely seriously. This policy outlines how we handle user information to ensure the safety of user information as well as comply with relevant guidelines (GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018). Please also note that as our platform develops, the way we handle data may change. Should any material change in policy occur, it will be reflected on this page, and, once published to this page, will be made operative. Whilst we will email Contractors/those contracting on behalf of institutions, who we expect will inform you of these changes, we nonetheless encourage you to check this page periodically.

The Company

Accelero and the organisers of the platform, are the data controllers.

The Users

We collect data from three key groups. Below are their categories and how we collect/use their data.

  • “Student”- includes users who use the platform for personal/educational development by engaging with our courses and web apps.
  • "Teacher"- includes those who interact with the platform in an administrative, supervisory or otherwise teaching-related capacity.
  • "Web Visitor"- includes those who visit the Accelero website but do not engage with the platform’s services beyond this.
  • "Peripheral Guest"- includes those who interact with Accelero’s content (i.e. through online seminars or promotional events) but may not visit the website or interact with the platform.
  • "Contractor"- includes representatives of institutions (schools or academy trusts) who are responsible for arranging the contract between Accelero and the institution(s).
Data Processed

Below are the types of data processed including from whom it is collected as well as our legal/practical basis for having this information.

  • School- the names of individual participating schools are collected in order to keep track of the clients with which we are dealing and to sort permissions for service use. This information is collected from each associated login i.e. for Teachers or Students as well as Contractors
  • Name- the names of Contractors will be collected for the purposes of maintaining communication
  • Email- an institution-associated email will be collected from the Contractor in order to create a line of contact between Accelero and the institution(s).
  • Password- a password is used for the logins of Teachers and Students in order to facilitate our legitimate interest in securing our platform. Note that due to our security practices, we cannot see your password.
  • Technical Information- subject to the allowances made by the user and their device, some technical information i.e. IP address, type of device used, session information in order to assess our platform’s technical performance and also to help detect any suspicious activity. This is for anyone who uses our website, including Web Visitors, Teachers and Students.
Data Retention

It is our aim to delete data as soon as we have finished using it. This tends to mean within two years of when the data was last useful to us.

Third Party Data Sharing

Your information is only shared with third parties where necessary. For example, technical or login information with (GDPR compliant) hosts, or where we are legally required to.

Policy Acceptance

If you are a Student or Teacher, your school will have entered into an agreement with us, either via the institution itself or via a broader party (i.e. an academy trust). Please note that to use or access our platform in any manner is to accept our policies. This means that you consent to us using your information in the manner described in this policy.

Information Security

All information transmission via the internet can be subject to vulnerabilities, even when reasonable steps are taken to prevent this. As such, we cannot 100% guarantee total transmission security via our platform. Nonetheless, we are extremely proactive in our efforts to protect data, and use a wide range of security techniques to achieve this. If you have concerns about your data being at risk, or would like to change your password, please contact us.

Specific Rights

If you are from the UK or EU (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden) you have a right per the GDPR to access, change or delete any data about you. Contact us if you wish to arrange this. Please note that if you prevent us from using/accessing data that is essential for you to use Accelero, then we will be unable to provide our services to you.
